BACKGROUND

A career built on litigation and service.

Alan earned his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1991, graduating cum laude. During law school, he served as editor-in-chief of the University of Baltimore Law Review and received awards recognizing his legal research and writing.

Admitted to the Maryland bar in 1991 and the District of Columbia bar in 1992, Alan has handled matters in state and federal courts, including trial and appellate proceedings. His experience includes complex injury litigation and bankruptcy matters.

Today, Belsky Legal focuses on personal injury, particularly auto and truck accidents; medical malpractice; workers’ compensation; and consumer bankruptcy.

Consumer bankruptcy

Alan helped establish the Maryland State Bar Association’s Consumer Bankruptcy Section. In 2006, the section created the Alan J. Belsky Outstanding Achievement Award to recognize contributions to consumer bankruptcy practice.

Teaching and service

His professional work has included writing, speaking, mentoring attorneys, and providing pro bono representation. Topics have included trial practice, professional responsibility, and bankruptcy.
